After graduating from the University of Lethbridge, Mr. Thomas started his career as an agronomist, optimizing farmer decisions and training agronomy and ag retail staff on progressive agronomic practices and customer support strategies. With an insatiable desire to tackle new challenges, Mr. Thomas took the opportunity to oversee marketing, distribution and agronomy functions for the largest agribusiness in Canada, developing go-to-market strategies, streamlining operational processes and championing agtech initiatives before obtaining global business development experience with an agtech organization with operations in North and South America, Europe and Australia.

Shane currently publishes Upstream Ag Insights, a newsletter read globally by thousands of leaders in agriculture that covers essential news and analysis at the intersection of technology, business and agriculture while operating an advisory business supporting start-up agribusinesses to the largest chemistry, seed and fertilizer businesses in the industry on organizational strategy, product marketing and business intelligence.
