Dr. Gary Whiteaker - Director

Dr. Whiteaker has 37 years experience in the vegetable seed industry and 14 years experience in the flower seed business. For the past 14 years, he has worked for Sakata Seed America, Inc. as Director of Quality Assurance and Intellectual Property Rights and where he served on the company Executive Committee. Previously, Dr. Whiteaker was President of Canners Seed Corporation (Nunhems) in Lewisville, Idaho; worked for Arco Seed Company in senior management positions and for Atlantic Richfield Corporation in their divestiture of their seed business. Before that, Dr. Whiteaker was Vice President for Research at Alf. Christianson Seed Company.

Gary Whiteaker holds a BS degree in Horticulture from Oregon State University and a Ph.D. in Plant Breeding and Plant Genetics from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He is also a graduate of the Washington Agriculture and Forestry Leadership Foundation. Dr. Whiteaker has served in various leadership roles in the American Seed Trade Association and serves on the American Seed Research Foundation, Scientific Advisory Council.
